Welcome to Homegrown Motherhood!
Hey there, momma! I am so glad you stopped by my page. I hope you will join me on this wonderful journey of motherhood. My name is Laura, and I am the face behind Homegrown Motherhood.
Where I Come From
As a 17-year-old, I raised my right hand to serve in the United States Army. After basic training, I was quickly deployed to Iraq and spent 15 months there with my unit. I believe my military experience gives me a somewhat unique perspective on motherhood. The military instilled in me a sense of discipline, perseverance, and a deep appreciation for family and community.
After my time in the Army, I attended college and earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics which I used to get into corporate banking. However, I have always had a passion for two things: helping people, and physical fitness. This led me to become a certified personal trainer and a certified nutrition coach through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).
I recently made the life-altering move to leave corporate banking behind for a more fulfilling role: being a stay-at-home mom to my 5 amazing children. Two of them are bonus babies, who I adore dearly, and 4 of them are ages 7 or younger. We’ve got a lot going on around here! The decision to leave the workforce was not an easy one but was driven by my desire to be fully present for my children and create a strong foundation for their upbringing. In making this huge change, I realized that there must be a lot of moms out there in similar situations, seeking guidance, advice, or simply a community of like-minded individuals. That’s why I created Homegrown Motherhood.
